Hippie Gourmet Grilled Cheese Food Co. was founded by Dave Glomp and Ken Bohm, two longtime friends with a shared passion for comfort food. They left their corporate sales jobs to pursue their dream of bringing gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches to the Chicago area. Inspired by the classic Shakedown Street grilled cheese sandwiches sold at Grateful Dead concerts, they aim to recreate the nostalgic flavors of childhood while catering to mature palates. Their commitment to quality is evident through partnerships with local vendors, sourcing bread from Breadsmith in St. Charles, bacon from Ream's in Elburn, and select cheeses from Curds & Whey in Geneva. Since launching in August 2022, they've been serving up mouthwatering grilled cheese creations, earning recognition as one of the top food trucks in Kane County and a feature on ABC 7 Chicago.
