Sung-Yoon Kang
Sung-Yoon Kang is the founder and owner of Ka'Chi Truck, a Philadelphia-based food truck specializing in Korean-inspired street food. Before venturing into the culinary world, Kang held a position in banking but found himself yearning for a more dynamic and fulfilling career. Drawing inspiration from his upbringing in a family deeply rooted in the restaurant industry—his father operated a restaurant in Saudi Arabia, and his wife's family owned The Dansbury Depot in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania—Kang decided to channel his passion for cooking into a new endeavor.

DESCRIPTION

Ka'Chi Truck was a beloved Philadelphia-based food truck that delighted locals with its inventive Korean street food. Launched in March 2012 by owner Sung-Yoon Kang, Ka'Chi quickly gained a following for its unique fusion dishes. The menu featured fan favorites like spicy pulled-pork sliders with pickled cucumbers, bulgogi beef tacos, soy-ginger chicken tacos, and fried kimchi rice balls—a delectable mix of kimchi, cheeses, rice, sesame seeds, and scallions, all rolled in Panko breadcrumbs. Ka'Chi was a regular at various city events and festivals, often spotted at locations like the Navy Yard and The Porch at 30th Street Station. Despite its popularity, Ka'Chi Truck has ceased operations, leaving behind fond memories among Philadelphia's food enthusiasts.
