The recognition calendar

Year-Round Hospital Celebrations

Los Angeles hospitals recognize their teams all year, and the mild winters mean outdoor service never really stops. Food trucks make each moment memorable.

January

National Pharmacist Day

Start the year by recognizing the pharmacists who keep your hospital running safely. A January lunch on the plaza edge or a staff lot works in Los Angeles, with a covered garage entrance as the rain-day backup.

March

Employee Appreciation Day and Doctors' Day

Two recognition moments as spring arrives. An all-staff truck event for Employee Appreciation Day, then a physicians' lunch for Doctors' Day on March 30.

April

Administrative Professionals and Lab Week

Some of the best outdoor weather of the year, before the marine layer settles in. Recognize administrative professionals, lab technicians and transplant nurses with a lunch outside.

May

Nurses Week and Hospital Week

The biggest week on the hospital calendar, and every campus from Santa Monica to Anaheim wants the same dates. National Nurses Week rolls into National Hospital Week; multi-day, multi-shift truck events reach everyone, and a multi-campus system can run the same lineup at several sites.

June

Nursing Assistants Week

CNAs and nursing assistants are the backbone of patient care. June gloom keeps the midday comfortable for an outdoor lunch on the plaza, the courtyard or the lot.

September

Neonatal Nurses Day

Honor the nurses caring for your smallest patients. Late summer is the hottest stretch of the Los Angeles year, so a shade setup and an early service window keep the line comfortable, and a shift-change event makes sure every NICU nurse is included.

October

Emergency Nurses Week and PA Week

Recognize your emergency department and physician assistants as the heat breaks. October stacks recognition days, which makes a week-long celebration easy to justify.

November

Nurse Practitioner Week and Radiologic Technology Week

Close the year by celebrating NPs and radiology teams. November in Los Angeles is often the clearest month, so an outdoor lunch needs no backup plan.

December

Holiday Staff Celebrations

Wrap up the year with a holiday truck event for the whole team. Los Angeles's range means tacos, Korean barbecue, lumpia and churros can share one celebration in the sun.

Built for a campus

What a hospital needs that an office does not

A hospital runs around the clock, on a campus with rules about where a truck can sit. The service is shaped around both.

Multi-shift coverage

A service window that runs lunch through the evening shift change, a second block for the night crew, or grab-and-go so staff can eat indoors. You set the windows; the trucks serve them.

Placement agreed with facilities

Where the truck sits, how it arrives and where the line forms are settled with your facilities team before the day, away from patient care areas and emergency access.

Multi-campus systems

One request covers a health system with several campuses: the same date across three sites, or a rotation through them, coordinated by one team.

Menus for a diverse workforce

Halal, vegetarian, vegan and allergen-aware options are standard across the roster, and a mixed line-up lets a large staff eat quickly without a single menu deciding for everyone.

Procurement paperwork, handled

A certificate of insurance naming the facility, a W-9, vendor registration where the system requires it, and one invoice per event by card, ACH or invoice.

One coordinator

A named contact who has cleared a hospital loading dock before, from the first request through the last shift served.

On the day

Who handles what

The trucks bring their own permits, insurance, power and cleanup. The campus decides where they sit.

The hospital provides

  • A level spot away from patient care areas and emergency access, agreed with facilities
  • The service windows for each shift you want covered
  • Vendor registration or badging details if your system requires them
  • A headcount per window, even as a range

The trucks bring

  • Their mobile food permit and commercial liability insurance, with a certificate naming the facility on request
  • Their own power, water and cleanup; a flat, accessible spot is usually all they need
  • Menus that serve a line fast, so a 30-minute break is enough

Each city page names the health systems and medical corridors we serve in that market.

How Hospital Events Work in Los Angeles

From request to service in four steps

1

Submit your request

Tell us the campus, date, shifts to cover, headcount and budget. Flag any vendor registration your health system requires.

2

Choose your trucks

Browse the Los Angeles roster and tell us which trucks you want, or ask your coordinator to suggest trucks whose menus and service speed fit a shift break.

3

The trucks accept, then you pay

Nothing is charged until the trucks have accepted your date. Then one invoice for the event, before tax shown up front, by card, ACH or invoice, with a certificate of insurance on request. Placement, timing and campus coordination are settled with your facilities team.

4

Enjoy Your Event

Trucks arrive with paperwork approved, serve each shift you scheduled, and clean up. Your team gets a well-earned meal.

FAQ

Los Angeles Hospital Catering FAQs

Common questions from hospital administrators and event coordinators across Los Angeles County and north Orange County

Which Los Angeles-area hospitals can you serve?

Any hospital or outpatient campus in Los Angeles County or north Orange County, including Cedars-Sinai, UCLA Health, Keck Medicine of USC, LA General Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, Providence, Dignity Health, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, City of Hope, Huntington Health, Torrance Memorial, MemorialCare, Adventist Health, PIH Health and the VA medical centers in West LA and Long Beach. Tell us the campus and we coordinate that system's vendor requirements.

What do hospitals usually require from a food truck vendor?

Typically a certificate of insurance naming the health system, vendor registration, a placement away from ambulance bays and loading docks, and a scheduled arrival window. We manage these with the truck ahead of time and allow extra lead time for hospital approvals, which can be slow at the larger systems.

Does Food Truck Club work with hospital procurement departments?

Yes. We work with procurement and accounts payable to streamline vendor setup, invoicing and payment, and can provide W-9s, certificates of insurance and any documentation your purchasing team requires.

Can a truck serve evening and overnight shifts?

Yes. Tell us the shift-change time and the truck will stage for it. Evening and weekend service is common for residents' events and unit appreciation days, and pre-orders keep a 30-minute break moving.

Can a department host a truck without a catering budget?

Yes. With attendee-paid service the truck sells directly to staff and visitors at no cost to the host, and the department backs a minimum guarantee it only pays if sales fall short. It is a popular way for a unit or department to bring a truck on site.

Where does the truck park on a dense campus like the Westside or Sunset Boulevard?

On property the hospital controls: a plaza edge, a garage entrance or a staff lot, away from ambulance routes and loading docks, with a placement your facilities team approves. Street parking is rarely an option around Cedars-Sinai, Westwood or the Sunset corridor. A truck needs a level spot about 25 feet long with 12 feet of clearance; we coordinate the spot and arrival window in advance.

Can you serve outdoors during Los Angeles's late-summer heat?

Yes. August and September are the hottest stretch of the year, especially in the Valley and north Orange County, so we plan a shaded placement, an early service window and cold drinks or a dessert truck alongside the main lineup. Trucks carry their own generators and refrigeration, so the heat is a comfort question for the line, not a food-safety one.

Do trucks serve year-round in Los Angeles?

Yes. Winters are mild, so outdoor service runs all year, with a covered garage entrance or grab-and-go format as the backup on the few rainy days. Winter weekdays often have the best availability of the year.

Do you serve hospitals in north Orange County?

Yes. Coverage runs Los Angeles County from the Westside and the Valley to Pasadena, Long Beach and the Gateway Cities, plus north Orange County from Anaheim and Fullerton to Brea and La Habra, which covers Kaiser Permanente Anaheim and Providence St. Jude. Each county permits mobile food facilities separately: Los Angeles County Public Health permits and letter-grades trucks, and a north Orange County campus falls under that county's own program, so the truck we place holds the permit your campus's county requires.

How much does food truck catering cost for a hospital event in Los Angeles?

Los Angeles is a new market on Food Truck Club, so the figures are platform-wide: paid bookings run about $18 per guest before sales tax, with most events between $14 and $24, and the per-person figure falls as the headcount grows. A 100 to 149 guest event typically totals about $1,950. For a large campus we size the lineup to the shifts you want covered. One invoice for the event, by card, ACH or invoice.

How far in advance should I book?

Nurses Week and Hospital Week in May are the tightest dates, since every campus from Santa Monica to Anaheim wants the same week; book early for those. A couple of weeks of notice covers most events, and week-of works more often than not, though the larger health systems need their own vendor approval time.

Los Angeles is a new market for Food Truck Club. How are trucks vetted?

Los Angeles is one of our newest markets and the roster is being built truck by truck. Every vendor is vetted before their first booking: county health permits and insurance certificates confirmed, menus and pricing reviewed, and the operator interviewed about capacity and communication. Post-event reviews feed into the same rating system that averages 4.8 stars across 680+ reviews nationwide.
