Roaming Hunger, Best Food Trucks, Truckster or Food Truck Club? How Long Each One Takes to Book a Food Truck
You have a date, a headcount and a rough budget, and you want a food truck confirmed without a week of back-and-forth. The five platforms that book food trucks differ most on exactly that: on Food Truck Club the truck hears about your event the moment you order and the median order is accepted in 24 minutes, while on Roaming Hunger trucks get up to 48 hours to send a quote before you can even compare prices.
A disclosure: we run Food Truck Club. Every detail about the other platforms comes from that company's own published FAQ, terms or catering pages as of September 2026.
How Fast Can You Book a Food Truck?
On Food Truck Club, the median order is accepted by the truck 24 minutes after it is placed. Of the 1,204 host-paid orders trucks accepted between September 2025 and September 2026, 44% were accepted within 15 minutes, 62% within an hour and 97% within a day. On Roaming Hunger, trucks get up to 48 hours to send a quote and you then have 24 hours to accept one, so a confirmed booking typically takes days.

1,204 host-paid orders accepted Sep 2025–Sep 2026, timed from when the order was placed; median 24 minutes. Recurring office and apartment programs excluded.
The difference comes from who moves first. On Food Truck Club you choose the truck, its prices are already on the profile, and your order goes straight to it. On Roaming Hunger your request goes out to trucks in your area, they have up to 48 hours to send a quote, you then have 24 hours to accept one, and the booking is confirmed only after you pay the invoice in full. Best Food Trucks sends you a list of available trucks after you submit a request, and Food Truck League routes you through a coordinator; neither publishes a timeline, and Truckster publishes none either.
Nothing is charged on Food Truck Club until the truck accepts, and if it can't take your date it declines and you pick another; every other truck in your city is one click away with its price showing. The full booking process takes about five minutes.
Why Trucks Answer So Quickly
Trucks on Food Truck Club respond fast because the platform is built around the order, not the inquiry. The moment you place one, the truck gets a text and an email with your date, headcount, menu and payout, and a one-hour window to accept; if it hasn't answered, it's reminded at one hour and again at three.
- Unavailable trucks don't show up. Trucks block dates on their calendars, and those calendars sync with Google Calendar every 30 minutes, so a truck that's already booked on your date isn't in your search results.
- You can see that a truck is active. Every profile lists the truck's recent bookings through Food Truck Club, with the event type, city, date and headcount, and the reviews hosts left afterwards.
- Every truck is verified. A truck is checked for licensing, insurance and health certifications before it can accept a booking, and its profile carries a priced menu.

You See the Price Before You Ask
Of the five, Food Truck Club is the one that puts each truck's minimum and per-serving price on its profile, and the order form prices every item as you add it, with tax shown, so you know the food total before you submit. Roaming Hunger shows menus without prices, Best Food Trucks shows trucks and menus only after you submit a request, and Truckster and Food Truck League publish general ranges ($10–20 and $15–40 per person) rather than a specific truck's price.
Seeing prices first changes how you shop. You can line up several trucks' minimums side by side, drop the ones outside your budget, and spend your time on the two or three that fit, before anyone has your phone number. Many of the trucks on Food Truck Club also take bookings through other platforms, so the truck itself is rarely the difference; how soon you see its price and hear back is. Our margin is built into the prices on each profile, so no separate service fee appears at the end. For a budget benchmark before you browse, our food truck catering cost guide is built from real bookings.
What Happens If Plans Change
Cancel 30 or more days before your event and Food Truck Club refunds you in full; Roaming Hunger and Food Truck League refund 50% at that distance, and Best Food Trucks and Truckster don't publish a refund schedule. Between 8 and 14 days out Roaming Hunger's 50% beats our 25%, and inside a week no platform that publishes a schedule refunds. If bad weather is forecast, Food Truck Club lets you reschedule at no cost, and an official weather advisory or warning means a full refund if you cancel.
If the truck cancels, Food Truck Club finds a replacement at no extra cost and you approve it before it's confirmed, or you get a full refund, under our Satisfaction Guarantee. Roaming Hunger's guarantee applies when a truck fails to show without 24 hours notice. Food Truck League's FAQ promises a replacement while its terms say only that it "may substitute" vendors, and Best Food Trucks and Truckster publish no policy we could find.
When Another Platform Is the Right Call
Food Truck Club serves 10 metro areas and lists each one; outside them, Roaming Hunger's national listings are the practical choice. If you want someone else to gather the options for you, Roaming Hunger and Food Truck League are built around that, at the cost of the wait. If your menu is unusual enough to need a custom quote rather than a truck's listed prices, a quote-based platform gives the truck room to shape a package.
General marketplaces such as Thumbtack, Bark and The Knot pass your request to several vendors who then call you; Yelp, Google Maps and Instagram find trucks but don't book them. Booking direct with a truck you already know skips any platform margin, and leaves the insurance certificate, the payment and the plan B to you. Our food truck versus caterer comparison covers the other decision, if you're still weighing a truck against a traditional caterer.
Is Roaming Hunger or Food Truck Club Better?
For an event in one of Food Truck Club's metro areas, Food Truck Club: every truck's price is on its profile, the truck is notified the moment you order, and the median order is accepted in 24 minutes, against a quote window of up to 48 hours and 100% upfront payment on Roaming Hunger. Roaming Hunger is the choice when your event is outside those cities.
If your event is in one of our metro areas, you lose nothing by looking first: check a few trucks' prices on Food Truck Club, then decide whether a custom quote is worth the wait.
How Much Does Roaming Hunger Charge?
Roaming Hunger's catering FAQ puts the average food truck catering at $1,541, with packages typically $800 to $2,500 and minimums by cuisine from about $800 for a dessert or beverage truck to $1,500 for a burger, BBQ or pizza truck. Each truck's price arrives as a catering package after you submit a request, and the invoice is due in full up front.
On Food Truck Club there's no service-fee line at checkout: the per-serving prices on each profile already include our margin. Some trucks charge a travel fee depending on how far the venue is; the truck will let you know if one applies.
